Israeli Drone Strike Kills 2 Syrians in Southern Lebanon Despite Ceasefire

Tyre: Two Syrians were killed in an Israeli drone strike in southern Lebanon, marking a breach of a temporary ceasefire, Lebanese media reported. The attack occurred on a road between the towns of Qlaileh and Deir Qanoun in Tyre, targeting a motorcycle and resulting in the deaths of the two Syrian nationals.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Lebanese state news agency NNA reported that civil defense teams are working in coordination with the Lebanese army to recover the bodies of the victims. The incident highlights ongoing tensions in the region despite the ceasefire.

Israeli warplanes have reportedly conducted nine airstrikes targeting various areas in southern Lebanon since dawn, as stated by Lebanese media. The ceasefire, which has been in effect since April 17 and extended to mid-May, has not prevented daily strikes by the Israeli army or exchanges of fire with Hezbollah.

The conflict, which intensified after the Iran war began in late February, has resulted in over 2,700 deaths and displaced more than 1 million people in Lebanon since March 2. The situation remains tense as the US prepares to host another round of peace talks between Israel and Lebanon on May 14-15 in Washington.
