Damascus:Israeli forces demolished an abandoned building during a military operation in the western Damascus countryside in southwestern Syria, as reported on Monday by Syrian media.
According to Anadolu Agency, the raid occurred between the towns of Beit Jinn and Mazraat Beit Jinn, where Israeli forces entered agricultural land before carrying out the demolition. No further details about the raid or casualties were provided by Syria Alikhbariah TV.
The Beit Jinn area has seen frequent Israeli military activity recently. On September 18, Israeli forces shelled the outskirts of Beit Jinn following a previous raid involving military vehicles, tanks, and a bulldozer.
Southern Syria has experienced repeated Israeli incursions, including raids, searches, arrests, and the establishment of military checkpoints. Israel has occupied most of the Syrian Golan Heights since 1967, and following the fall of Bashar al-Assad's regime in December 2024, Israel declared the 1974 disengagement agreement void, taking control of the demilitarized buffer zone and other strategic positions.
Damascus has called for Israeli forces to revert to their positions prior to December 8, 2024, while maintaining its commitment to the 1974 agreement.
