Tel aviv: Israeli National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir has canceled a planned family trip to the United States due to difficulties in obtaining a visa, according to Israeli media reports on Tuesday. The cancellation comes after the US Embassy informed Ben-Gvir that he would be required to appear in person to provide biometric fingerprints as part of the visa application process, as reported by the Haaretz daily.
According to Anadolu Agency, this requirement has been interpreted by Israeli media as a sign of the US's reluctance to grant the minister a visa. Ben-Gvir had intended to travel to Miami to attend the wedding of a daughter of an Israeli businessman. Initially, he sought financial support from the businessman to cover the trip expenses, but he later decided to bear the costs himself after facing criticism from the state comptroller.
Ben-Gvir is often a subject of media attention due to his controversial actions, which have attracted significant criticism and international disapproval.
