Helsingborg: The Italian foreign minister stated on Friday that he has not heard any plans regarding potential US troop withdrawals from Italy, emphasizing that such an action would be a "mistake." Speaking to reporters after the NATO Foreign Ministers' meeting in Helsingborg, Sweden, Antonio Tajani confirmed that there has been no decision from the US concerning troop withdrawal from Italy.
According to Anadolu Agency, Tajani responded to queries about possible US troop withdrawals from Italy by stating, "We haven't heard anything yet." He further expressed his opinion that reducing the US presence in Europe would be a mistake, clarifying that it should not equate to the US disengaging from Europe.
Tajani's comments were made in the context of US President Donald Trump's threats to withdraw troops stationed in Europe, including those in Italy, Germany, and Spain, due to tensions related to the Iran war.
