Damascus: Syrian Foreign Minister Asaad Al-Shaibani announced on Tuesday that he will represent Syria at the World Economic Forum in Switzerland, making history as the first Syrian official to attend the event. Al-Shaibani shared the news on his X account, expressing his honor in representing Syria and discussing its future development vision and aspirations.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Davos Forum commenced on Monday under the theme "Collaboration for the Intelligent Age" and will run until January 24. Syria's participation signals a shift in its economic strategies, following the recent political changes in the country. The new Syrian administration is focusing on opening up to the global community after the fall of the Bashar al-Assad regime.

Bashar al-Assad, who led Syria for nearly 25 years, fled to Russia after anti-regime groups gained control of Damascus on December 8. This event marked the end of the Baath Party's long-standing rule, which began in 1963.
