Trkiye Refutes Allegations of Olive Tree Destruction in Syria’s Afrin

Ankara: Trkiye's Center for Combating Disinformation (DMM) has strongly dismissed allegations that the country has been involved in the destruction of more than 2 million olive trees in Afrin, Syria. The center described these claims as "entirely unfounded and disinformation."

According to Anadolu Agency, the DMM expressed that such allegations are part of a systematic black propaganda campaign orchestrated by terrorist organizations and their affiliates. The aim, they say, is to target Trkiye's reputation. The DMM conveyed this message via the Turkish social media platform NSosyal, emphasizing that these accusations are a repetition of previously debunked claims.

The center highlighted that these allegations resurface as part of a "deliberate perception operation," particularly at a time when Syria's territorial integrity is being reinforced and terrorist elements are being neutralized. Trkiye's involvement in the region, they assert, has played a significant role in enhancing counter-terrorism efforts and establishing an environment of peace, security, stability, and prosperity.

Furthermore, the DMM stated that the claims lack any concrete or verifiable data, labeling them as pure disinformation. The center remains firm in its stance against the spread of such information, which they believe undermines the positive impact of Trkiye's presence in the region.
