Trkiye Sees $3.3 Billion in Foreign Direct Investments from January to April

Ankara: Foreign direct investments (FDI) to Trkiye in the first four months of 2025 totaled $3.3 billion, according to data released Monday by the International Investors Association. The figure rose 13% year-on-year from the same period of last year.

According to Anadolu Agency, the three countries that invested the most in Trkiye in the first four months of the year were Kazakhstan with $610 million, the Netherlands with $311 million, and the US with $201 million. In April alone, Trkiye's FDI amounted to $408 million, with $327 million of the total FDI inflow consisting of debt instruments and $140 million of real estate sales to foreign nationals.

Investment liquidations had a downward effect worth $494 million in April. Despite this, total investment capital inflows in the month amounted to $435 million. Financial and insurance activities captured a 21.4% share with an investment inflow of $93 million, of which $65 million was directed towards the banking sector. Additionally, the textile and apparel manufacturing sector attracted 21.1% of investment capital inflows, marking a significant performance.

The wholesale and retail trade sector accounted for 19% of the investments, followed by professional, scientific, and technical activities with 11%. EU countries, which had previously held a 58% share from 2002 to 2024, saw their share decrease to 48% in April 2025. Middle Eastern countries emerged as the second-largest investor region in Trkiye with an 18% share.

In April, the Netherlands was the largest single-country investor with a 28% share, followed by the United Arab Emirates with 17%, Britain with 10%, France with 8%, and the US with 7%.
