Jakarta: Turkish defense firm Armelsan and Indonesian state-owned enterprise PT-LEN have entered into a collaboration to bolster the security of Indonesia's critical underwater facilities. The agreement was formalized at the Indo Defence 2025 expo in Indonesia, aiming to address and mitigate underwater threats.

According to Anadolu Agency, Erdem Tumdag, Armelsan's director of sales, business development, and corporate communications, highlighted the company's extensive experience in enhancing underwater security for critical facilities and ports across Trkiye and other nations. "We will start a joint project with PT-LEN for the protection of critical facilities at sea and under the jurisdiction of the navy-this project has the potential to evolve into a joint production in the future," Tumdag explained.

Armelsan, a leader in Trkiye's defense sector, specializes in underwater acoustic systems and technologies, with a strong focus on sonar systems, remotely operated and unmanned underwater vehicles, and underwater sensor systems. These systems are designed to detect, track, and neutralize potential threats effectively. The company's remote-controlled unmanned underwater vehicle, Kasif, plays a crucial role in surveilling and safeguarding critical infrastructure, while its underwater sensor systems are instrumental in data collection and analysis.

Armelsan's contributions to underwater security include diver detection and anti-mine sonars, remotely controlled unmanned vehicles, and submarine defense systems, all of which play an essential role in protecting critical facilities and ports from underwater threats.
