Türkiye’s Banking Sector Loans Reach $586 Billion

Ankara:The loan volume in Türkiye's banking sector rose to 28.64 trillion Turkish liras, equivalent to $585.96 billion, as of October 2. The data was sourced from the Banking Regulation and Supervision Agency (BDDK).

According to Anadolu Agency, The total lending showed a 0.85% increase in lira terms compared to the previous week. Of the total loans, $374.05 billion were lira-denominated, while foreign currency loans amounted to $211.91 billion.

Commercial and other loans reached $442.04 billion, with consumer loans and personal credit card receivables together totaling $143.92 billion. Consumer loans alone were $71.64 billion, comprising $17.25 billion in housing loans, $860 million in vehicle loans, and $53.53 billion in general-purpose loans.

Banks' personal credit card receivables were $72.28 billion, with $27.23 billion as installment debt and $45.05 billion as non-installment debt. Consumer overdraft loans, part of the consumer lending total, stood at $19.33 billion.

Additionally, loans to small and medium-sized enterprises amounted to $157.09 billion. Commercial installment loans reached $88.27 billion, including $897 million in business property loans, $8.26 billion in vehicle loans, and $79.12 billion in general-purpose commercial loans. Corporate credit card receivables totaled $23.43 billion.
