Kyiv: Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha on Tuesday expressed approval of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's adoption of a declaration that advocates for increased military and financial support for Ukraine. He described this development as a significant message of unity and strength ahead of the NATO Summit in The Hague.
According to Anadolu Agency, Sybiha conveyed his sentiments in a post on X, stating, "I welcome the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's approval of the Declaration 'Peace Through Strength in Ukraine,' which reaffirms its unwavering support." He highlighted the necessity for escalating all types of assistance, including boosting defense production among allies and Ukraine.
Sybiha also praised the decision to intensify sanctions against Russia amidst its ongoing conflict. He emphasized the declaration's support for Ukraine's involvement in the NATO Summit, calling it "of key political importance."
The declaration, formally titled "Taking NATO Deterrence and Defence to the Next Level at the Hague Summit," urges allied nations to persist and enhance their support for Ukraine across military, financial, and humanitarian dimensions. It advocates for stronger integration between NATO and Ukraine through initiatives such as the NATO-Ukraine Council, the Comprehensive Assistance Package, and joint training centers.
Furthermore, the assembly reiterated Ukraine's trajectory towards full NATO membership and endorsed more stringent sanctions against Russia, especially in vital sectors like energy, metallurgy, and finance.
