Tehran: Three people were injured in incidents linked to US strikes on the Iranian capital, the head of Tehran emergency services reported on Thursday. Mohammad Esmaeil Tavakoli, head of Tehran Province Emergency Services, confirmed that the injuries occurred due to US attacks in the province.
According to Anadolu Agency, emergency teams were dispatched to the affected areas to provide medical assistance to the injured. Reports indicated that the US executed strikes across several locations in Iran, resulting in damage in multiple areas. In response, emergency and public service agencies have been placed on high alert.
In a separate incident, a cargo vessel from Iran's southern Sirik County was hit by what local authorities described as a US projectile in the Sea of Oman early Thursday, as reported by the ISNA news agency. The vessel, loaded with essential goods, was traveling from Khasab in Oman to Sirik when it was struck approximately five nautical miles from Khasab Port. The vessel's five crew members were rescued by passing ships and later transferred to Oman.
Additionally, fishermen in Iran's southern Hormozgan province have been instructed to avoid the Strait of Hormuz until further notice, according to the semi-official Tasnim news agency. The directive mandates that all fishing activities remain within Iran's territorial waters, specifically within 12 nautical miles of the coast.
Iranian media previously reported on explosions, air defense activity, and airstrikes across parts of southern Iran, including regions such as Bandar Abbas, Minab, Jask, Qeshm, and Sirik. The US Central Command (CENTCOM) stated that American forces had conducted additional 'self-defense' strikes against multiple targets in Iran.
Meanwhile, Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed responsibility for striking 18 significant US military targets across Kuwait, Bahrain, and Jordan. These recent events have significantly increased regional tensions following the US strikes on southern Iran and Tehran's subsequent decision to close the Strait of Hormuz to maritime traffic.
