Tel Aviv: The Yemeni Houthi group said Tuesday that it targeted Ben Gurion Airport in central Israel with two missiles as regional tension continues to spike over ongoing Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

According to Anadolu Agency, the group stated that two hypersonic ballistic missiles were launched at the airport, marking the fifth such attack in recent days. There has been no immediate response from Israel regarding the Houthi claim.

The Houthi group also reported that its forces targeted US warships in the Red Sea, although they did not provide further details. Meanwhile, the Israeli army announced Monday night that it intercepted a missile fired from Yemen before it could enter Israeli airspace. Local media, however, reported that the missile was shot down inside Israeli airspace, with falling shrapnel from the interceptor missile landing within Israeli territory.

Since late 2023, the Houthi group has been attacking Israeli-linked ships passing through strategic waterways, including the Red and Arabian seas, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aden. These actions have disrupted global trade as a demonstration of solidarity with the Gaza Strip. The group initially halted its attacks following a ceasefire declared in January between Israel and the Palestinian group Hamas but threatened to resume when Israel blocked all humanitarian aid into Gaza on March 2.
