Ramallah: At least 13 journalists, including an Anadolu photojournalist, were injured in attacks by Israeli army forces and illegal Israeli settlers in the occupied West Bank on Tuesday.
According to Anadolu Agency, Issam al-Rimawi, an Anadolu photojournalist, was struck on the head with a stick by illegal settlers while covering settler assaults in Al-Mughayyir village, east of Ramallah in the central West Bank. The attack caused the photojournalist to lose consciousness, and he was subsequently transferred to the Palestine Medical Complex in Ramallah for medical treatment.
Witnesses reported that six journalists suffered temporary asphyxiation after Israeli forces deployed tear gas canisters during a military raid in Nablus in the northern West Bank. All affected journalists were taken to hospitals for medical attention. Additionally, local sources indicated that six other reporters experienced suffocation due to tear gas used by Israeli army forces during clashes in Bethlehem.
Since the onset of the Israeli onslaught on the Gaza Strip on Oct. 7, 2023, at least 970 Palestinians have been killed and more than 7,000 injured in attacks by the Israeli army and illegal settlers across the occupied West Bank, according to the Palestinian Health Ministry. The International Court of Justice declared last July that Israel's longstanding occupation of Palestinian territories is illegal, calling for the evacuation of all settlements in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.
