Copenhagen: A campaign was launched in Denmark on Monday to take the state of California from the US in return for President Donald Trump's controversial bid to take Greenland. The "Denmarkification" campaign aims to raise $1 trillion to acquire the state.

According to Anadolu Agency, the campaign's website highlights California's appeal, emphasizing its 300 days of sunshine annually, significant technology investments, and the promise of "avocado toast forever." It also humorously suggests renaming Disneyland to "Hans Christian Andersenland" in honor of the renowned Danish fable writer.

The campaign argues that President Trump, known for his criticisms of California, might consider parting with it for the right price. The Danes promise to introduce "Rule of law, universal health care and fact-based politics" to the state, should the acquisition succeed.

Greenland, under Danish sovereignty since 1953, has caught Trump's attention due to its strategic importance and abundant mineral resources. Tensions between Denmark and the US have escalated as Trump has not dismissed the possibility of economic or military measures to secure Greenland, claiming its necessity for "the protection of the free world."

Trump has previously characterized owning Greenland as an "absolute necessity" for US economic security, likening the potential acquisition to a "large real estate deal."
