Jakarta: Indonesia's President Prabowo Subianto on Thursday swore in 961 newly elected regional heads in an unprecedented mass ceremony. This event, held in the capital Jakarta, marked the first time such a large number of officials were inaugurated simultaneously.
According to Anadolu Agency, the newly elected leaders include 33 governors, 33 deputy governors, 363 district heads, 362 deputy district heads, 85 mayors, and 85 deputy mayors, all set to serve from 2025 to 2030. These leaders were reminded by President Prabowo of their duty to serve as the people's representatives, emphasizing their role in defending and improving the lives of Indonesian citizens.
The induction ceremony is followed by an eight-day boot camp at the Magelang Military Academy in Central Java, starting Friday. This initiative reflects Prabowo's approach to leadership, having previously organized a similar training camp for his Cabinet. He challenged the regional heads to endure the training, hinting that those uncertain of their readiness should reconsider their positions.
Prabowo took office in October 2024, after being elected in February of the same year. His administration continues to focus on strengthening leadership at all levels, demonstrating his commitment to national development and governance.
