Turkish Foreign Minister Holds Discussions with UK Overseas Territories Minister in Geneva

Ankara: The Turkish foreign minister met with the UK minister of state for Europe, North America, and Overseas Territories in the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office in Geneva.

According to Anadolu Agency, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced that Hakan Fidan engaged in talks with Stephen Doughty on the sidelines of an informal meeting centered on the Cyprus issue in a broader format in Geneva.

Details of the discussions between Fidan and Doughty have not been disclosed. However, the context of their meeting was part of a larger gathering hosted by UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres. This meeting includes leaders from both the Turkish Cypriot and Greek Cypriot communities, as well as representatives from the island's three guarantor states: Trkiye, Greece, and the UK.

The objective of the meeting is to establish a platform for dialogue regarding the future of Cyprus, an island divided by a longstanding dispute. This initiative seeks to explore potential resolutions for the ongoing conflict that has persisted for decades.
