Istanbul: Trkiye's benchmark stock index, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100, closed Tuesday at 9,312.13 points, reflecting a 0.1% decrease from its previous closing value. The index started the trading day at 9,378.74 points and registered a loss of 9.51 points compared to Monday's close.
According to Anadolu Agency, the BIST 100 index fluctuated throughout the day, reaching its lowest at 9,286.36 points and peaking at 9,409.06 points. The total market capitalization of the index was approximately 8.47 trillion Turkish liras, equivalent to $222.3 billion, with a daily trading volume of 84 billion Turkish liras or $2.2 billion.
Trading activity saw 28 stocks on the index rise, while 70 stocks fell compared to the previous day's close. Alongside stock movements, commodity and currency values were also monitored. The price of an ounce of gold was reported at $3,418.20, and Brent crude oil was priced at around $67.10 per barrel as of 7.10 local time (1610GMT).
Currency exchange rates were noted with the US dollar trading at 38.2510 liras, the euro at 43.8560 liras, and the British pound at 51.1440 liras, highlighting the financial environment accompanying the stock index's performance.
