Tel Aviv: Israeli Energy Minister Eli Cohen announced that the plan proposed by former US President Donald Trump to displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip "remains on the table." Speaking to the Israeli public broadcaster KAN, Cohen emphasized that the so-called 'voluntary migration' plan is still being actively pursued.

According to Anadolu Agency, Trump has repeatedly proposed since February to take over Gaza and resettle its population, with the goal of transforming the area into a tourist destination. This plan has faced significant rejection from the Arab world and numerous other nations, who argue that it constitutes ethnic cleansing. Cohen stated that efforts to implement the plan are "ongoing on the ground," though he provided no additional details.

Cohen also mentioned that there are "advanced talks" with two unnamed countries concerning the issue, one of which he described as 'Islamic.' He expressed skepticism about a substantial reconstruction process in the Gaza Strip occurring in the near future, suggesting that promoting voluntary migration has become a necessary measure due to the current situation in the region.

On Sunday, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu admitted that the Israeli military continues to demolish homes in Gaza to prevent Palestinians from returning and to compel them to emigrate. Since October 2023, approximately 52,900 Palestinians have lost their lives in Gaza due to a severe Israeli military offensive, with most casualties being women and children.

The International Criminal Court has issued arrest warrants for Netanyahu and former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, charging them with war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Additionally, Israel is facing a genocide case at the International Court of Justice over its actions in the enclave.
