Tehran: Iran has reported that Israel detonated five car bombs in the capital city, Tehran, amidst a series of exchanges between the two longstanding adversaries, as per Iranian media reports on Sunday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the state news agency IRNA, citing an informed source, indicated that the explosions occurred following an attempt by Iranian air defenses to repel a wave of Israeli strikes on the country. Details regarding casualties or the extent of damage from these blasts have not been disclosed.

In contrast, an Israeli official, speaking to the public broadcaster KAN, refuted the allegations, denying any involvement in the reported car bombings. This development follows a series of coordinated Israeli airstrikes on various sites across Iran, targeting military and nuclear facilities on Friday, which triggered immediate retaliatory strikes from Tehran.

Subsequent to these exchanges, Israeli authorities reported that at least 13 individuals were killed and over 370 others sustained injuries due to Iranian missile attacks since Friday. Iran, on the other hand, stated that 78 people were killed on the first day of the Israeli assault, with additional casualties, including children, reported on the second day.
