Ankara: At least 46 Palestinians were killed and others injured in a new wave of Israeli strikes Monday in the Gaza Strip, medical sources reported. The strikes further intensified the ongoing humanitarian crisis in the region, already beset by conflict and deprivation.
According to Anadolu Agency, seven Palestinians, including a child, lost their lives and several others were injured in a strike targeting a tent sheltering displaced families in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis in southern Gaza. In a tragic incident during a raid, a Palestinian journalist was killed by Israeli army fire while attempting to arrest Dr. Marwan Al-Hams, the director of Abu Yousef Al-Najjar Hospital and the head of field hospitals in the Gaza Strip.
Five more individuals were killed in several Israeli airstrikes in Deir al-Balah city, as confirmed by medics. Additional drone attacks resulted in the deaths of one civilian in the Nuseirat refugee camp and another in Wadi Gaza in the central Gaza Strip. Medics confirmed that five bodies were transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital after Israeli forces shelled a crowd waiting for aid delivery near the Netzarim Corridor.
Israeli drone strikes also resulted in five civilian deaths and numerous injuries in the al-Nazla Roundabout in Jabalia, northern Gaza. In Gaza City, multiple targets were hit, including a tent sheltering displaced civilians, apartments, a civilian gathering near a medical complex, and a desalination plant, resulting in 14 deaths and several injuries.
An Israeli drone strike in the al-Qadisiyah area west of Khan Younis claimed two more lives, targeting a tent sheltering displaced individuals. In Deir al-Balah, a Palestinian woman was shot dead by Israeli forces in her home. Four Palestinians were killed, and several others injured as Israeli forces opened fire on civilians attempting to access humanitarian aid near the Netzarim Corridor.
The strikes also extended to a kindergarten in the same city, injuring one child. Despite the escalating toll, Israeli attacks continue unabated as the region grapples with a deepening famine, claiming at least 18 lives from starvation over the past 24 hours alone.
Israel has killed over 59,000 Palestinians, predominantly women and children, in Gaza since October 2023. The ongoing military campaign has devastated the enclave, collapsing its health system and causing severe food shortages. Last November, the International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity. Israel faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its actions in Gaza.
