Ankara: Trkiye's defense firm Roketsan has successfully completed the firing test of its indigenous vertical launch system, Midlas, by launching a Hisar-D RF missile aboard the multirole frigate TCG Istanbul. This was confirmed by the secretary of Turkish Defense Industries (SSB) on Friday.

According to Anadolu Agency, Haluk Gorgun shared on the Turkish social media platform, Next Sosyal, that the test signifies a milestone in the Turkish defense industry. He explained that the test highlights the reliability of the systems and showcases the determination to achieve progress in increments. Gorgun also emphasized the collaboration among various defense companies, including Aselsan, Havelsan, STM, and Roketsan, which bolsters the Turkish Navy's capabilities and provides strategic advantages to the country.

The missile was launched off the coast of Sinop in the northern province along the Black Sea. Following the launch, target detection was conducted using the Cenk 400-N 4-D search radar and the Akrep 300-N fire control radar. The Hisar-D fire control system utilized the Agras RF seeker head for guidance during the mid-course and terminal phases.

The harmonious operation of homegrown systems was evident as they effectively managed the missile's firing, detection, and target tracking processes at sea.
