According to Anadolu Agency, the Royal Malaysian Air Force confirmed that an incident involving one of its F/A-18D Hornet fighter aircraft occurred at 9.05 pm local time (1305GMT). Videos circulating on social media showed the jet catching fire soon after it took off from the runway.
