Kyiv: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that Kyiv's negotiating team is set to prepare for an upcoming meeting with envoys of US President Donald Trump, following consultations with European leaders in Brussels. The move signals a continued effort to coordinate international support and strategies in the ongoing conflict.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy stated that Ukrainian officials, led by National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov, will brief European capitals on the recent contacts made by the American side in Moscow. These briefings aim to discuss the European component of the necessary security architecture, ensuring that the negotiation process remains active and coordinated with international partners.

Umerov and senior Ukrainian advisors plan to meet with their European counterparts in Brussels before a follow-up session with the US delegation, focusing on efforts to reach a peace agreement. This initiative underscores the importance of multilateral discussions and strategic alliances in resolving the conflict.

In Moscow, US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner are expected to meet with Zelenskyy after holding talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Kirill Dmitriev, Putin's envoy who participated in the discussions, described the meeting as productive. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov echoed this sentiment, noting that the talks were constructive and informative, covering potential settlement options over a five-hour session.

Ushakov clarified that there is no compromise plan for Ukraine yet, although Moscow considered some elements of the revised US proposal acceptable while rejecting others. He conveyed that President Putin expressed willingness to agree to certain aspects of the US plan, though others were criticized. The US draft, initially a 28-point proposal, has been refined through recent discussions with Kyiv, with a primary focus on establishing a de facto border under a potential ceasefire.
