Washington: US President Donald Trump expressed his disappointment on Sunday over Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy's failure to review the latest peace proposal aimed at resolving the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Speaking to reporters at the Kennedy Center, Trump emphasized the importance of Zelenskyy's engagement with the proposal, noting that while Russia seems agreeable to the terms, the Ukrainian leader has yet to familiarize himself with it.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy had earlier engaged in discussions with American officials following consultations with a Ukrainian delegation in Florida. The Ukrainian president reported having a significant phone conversation with US envoy Steve Witkoff and Trump's informal adviser Jared Kushner. The talks included senior Ukrainian negotiator Rustem Umerov and Chief of the General Staff Andrii Hnatov. The discussions reportedly covered numerous aspects and key points of the proposed peace plan, which aims to bring an end to the protracted conflict in Ukraine.

The peace proposal remains a focal point of diplomatic efforts, with Witkoff and Kushner having met Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow to negotiate the terms. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov described the discussions as constructive, useful, and informative, indicating progress on the Russian side. Zelenskyy, meanwhile, awaits a detailed in-person report from Umerov and Hnatov to assess the situation further.
