Paris: The French presidency welcomed on Sunday Moscow's willingness to hold talks with President Emmanuel Macron, signaling further details in the coming days. The Elysee Palace expressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin's openness to dialogue with Macron is "welcome," with Paris set to finalize the details "in the coming days," according to the French broadcaster BFMTV.

According to Anadolu Agency, the response from the Elysee followed comments from Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, who informed the Russian news agency RIA late Saturday about Putin's readiness to engage in dialogue with Macron. The development comes after Macron remarked to reporters post-European Council meeting on Friday about the potential usefulness of renewed discussions between him, the Europeans, and Putin, amidst ongoing US efforts to resolve the Moscow-Kyiv conflict.

Macron emphasized the importance of finding a structured approach for Europeans and Ukrainians to re-engage in meaningful discussions. He noted, "I think that we, Europeans and Ukrainians, have an interest in finding a framework to re-engage in these discussions properly. Otherwise, we end up talking among ourselves, with negotiators who go off on their own to talk with the Russians, which is not optimal."
