Florida: US Special Envoy Steve Witkoff has announced that Russia remains "fully committed" to achieving peace in Ukraine. This statement follows recent talks held between Russian presidential aide Kirill Dmitriev and an American delegation in Florida.

According to Anadolu Agency, Witkoff made the announcement on the US social media platform X, highlighting that Dmitriev's meetings with the American delegation were "productive and constructive." The discussions aimed to advance President Donald Trump's peace plan for Ukraine. The US delegation included Witkoff, Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law and unofficial adviser, and White House staff member Josh Gruenbaum.

Witkoff emphasized that Russia values the United States' efforts and support in resolving the Ukrainian conflict and restoring global security. His comments came shortly after a joint statement on "productive" meetings held between US, Ukrainian, and European representatives, also in Florida.

The meetings focused on four key documents: the development of a 20-point plan, aligning positions on a multilateral security guarantee framework, aligning positions on a US security guarantee framework for Ukraine, and furthering an economic and prosperity plan. Special attention was given to timelines and sequencing of next steps, with a shared priority to halt the conflict, ensure security, and create conditions for Ukraine's recovery and long-term prosperity.

Witkoff reiterated that peace should not only mean a cessation of hostilities but also provide a dignified foundation for a stable future. He acknowledged Ukraine's commitment to achieving a just and sustainable peace and appreciated the US leadership and coordination with partners in ongoing efforts.

These meetings are part of a series of negotiations since November, focusing on establishing a peace framework to end the nearly four-year Russia-Ukraine war, based on a draft proposal by the US that has been refined over time.
