Prague: The Czech Republic is preparing to conclude over two centuries of hard coal mining, as reported by Czech Radio. The operations at the country's final deep coal mine, the CSM mine located in the Karvina region, are set to cease in late January. The last load of coal is scheduled to be extracted this Saturday.

According to Anadolu Agency, the technical dismantling of the CSM mine is anticipated to span approximately three years. In response to the closure, the operating company has devised a new business strategy extending to 2050, which includes initiatives such as capturing mine gas. Additionally, brown coal mining in the Czech Republic is projected to cease by 2030.
