Kuwait city: Kuwait announced Thursday the detection of five ballistic missiles and nine drones, resulting in injuries and property damage. Four of the missiles were intercepted and destroyed, while one landed "outside the threat zone," as reported by the army on the social media platform X.
According to Anadolu Agency, two of the nine drones targeted vital facilities, and explosions heard in some areas were due to air defense systems intercepting hostile aerial targets. The public has been urged to "strictly follow the safety and security instructions issued by the relevant authorities."
The Kuwaiti Armed Forces stated their readiness to address any threats and vowed to confront anything that undermines the country's security, ensuring the protection of its sovereignty, security, stability, national interests, and capabilities.
The situation escalated regionally following a joint attack by Israel and the US against Iran on February 28, which resulted in significant casualties and injuries, including the death of then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. In response, Tehran launched drone and missile strikes targeting Israel, Jordan, Iraq, and Gulf countries hosting US military assets.
