Jiyus: An elderly Palestinian woman died of a heart attack early Tuesday, after Israeli forces entered her home in the occupied West Bank, according to official and local sources.
According to Anadolu Agency, Sabriya Amin Shamashna, 68, had a heart attack during an Israeli military raid on her home in the town of Jiyus, east of Qalqilya. Medical sources cited by the Palestinian news agency WAFA reported that she was taken to a hospital, where her death was later announced.
Local sources informed Anadolu that the raid was part of a larger military operation in Jiyus at dawn, during which several homes were searched, including Shamashna's residence. The troops reportedly entered the couple's bedroom, causing alarm and resulting in Shamashna's cardiac arrest. The soldiers subsequently withdrew from the home.
There has been no immediate comment from either Israeli or Palestinian officials regarding the incident.
Israeli forces frequently conduct operations in cities and towns across the West Bank, often detaining Palestinians. Since October 8, 2023, Israeli operations in the West Bank have resulted in more than 1,147 Palestinian deaths, about 11,750 injuries, and the arrest of nearly 22,000 individuals, according to official Palestinian figures.
