Kiev: Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that Russian President Vladimir Putin has dismissed multiple proposals for peace talks, indicating that further pressure on Moscow could become necessary.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy revealed on the social media platform X that he had recently discussed with former US President Donald Trump the potential of organizing a meeting in the United States. Zelenskyy suggested that such a format might make it more difficult for Putin to refuse to engage, at least with Trump. He emphasized the importance of taking action if Russia declines this opportunity, suggesting that additional pressure might be required.

Zelenskyy further mentioned that discussions had been held with the United States and France about the possibility of conducting talks with Russia during the G7 summit. However, he claimed that Putin showed no willingness to participate. Zelenskyy stated that he had offered Putin the chance to meet in any location where effective decisions to end the war could be reached, but Putin was not interested.

While traveling to the G7 summit, Zelenskyy spoke from Moldova, expressing his approval of the commencement of the first cluster of European Union accession negotiations involving Ukraine and Moldova. He described this development as a significant indication that Europe's progress is unstoppable. Zelenskyy urged the EU to expedite Ukraine's accession process and to proceed with opening the remaining negotiating clusters without any delay.
