Marib: Yemen's Defense Ministry announced that government forces successfully intercepted two explosive-laden drones launched by the Houthi group towards the central city of Marib. The interception occurred without any reports of casualties or damage.

According to Anadolu Agency, the ministry's September Net website, citing an unnamed military source, stated that air defense units managed to neutralize the drones. The drones were aimed at residential neighborhoods and camps for displaced individuals in Marib. The source confirmed no casualties or material damage resulted from the incident and added that the armed forces are on high alert to detect and respond to threats, ensuring the protection of civilians and their property.

The Houthis have not yet commented on the incident. Earlier, Deputy Information Minister Mohammed Qizan, via a post on the US social media platform X, indicated that the Houthis resumed missile and drone attacks on Marib's residential areas but did not provide further details. State-run Saba TV, broadcasting from Marib, also reported renewed shelling by the Houthis targeting the densely populated city.

This drone attack followed a day after Yemen's Health Ministry reported that two civilians were killed and 14 others wounded in Houthi missile and drone attacks on Marib. The Houthis claimed responsibility for targeting military gatherings and equipment at the Sahn al-Jin military camp in Marib.

Additionally, on Friday, the Yemeni army reported repelling a Houthi attack on Marib with no casualties or material losses among its forces. Clashes between government forces and the Iran-backed Houthi group have intensified across several front lines since early July, leading to numerous casualties on both sides. Yemen has experienced a relative lull in its nearly 12-year conflict since April 2022 between government forces, backed by a Saudi-led coalition, and the Iran-backed Houthis, who have controlled the capital, Sanaa, and several other provinces since September 2014.
