Tehran: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Qalibaf issued a stern warning to the United States on Sunday, stating that any new attack on Iran's interests or security would provoke a 'faster, heavier and more painful' response. During a parliamentary session, Qalibaf emphasized that the time for 'proportionate responses' has passed, suggesting that recent Iranian military actions against US bases were merely an initial move.

According to Anadolu Agency, Qalibaf insisted that the US should recognize the shift in Iran's military strategy and warned of dire consequences should they fail to do so. He asserted that Iranian strikes on US bases have pressured Washington, and accused US officials of using artificial intelligence to create misleading battlefield imagery.

The remarks occur within the context of an ongoing conflict that began in February, following US and Israeli strikes on Iran. In retaliation, Tehran has launched missile and drone attacks against US targets across the region. A memorandum of understanding was signed by Iran and the US in June, with Pakistan and Qatar mediating. The agreement aimed to de-escalate tensions, reopen the Strait of Hormuz, and address economic restrictions.

However, both nations have since blamed each other for not fulfilling the memorandum's commitments. Military tensions persist alongside unresolved disputes over sanctions and navigation through the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. Throughout the conflict, Iran has conducted several missile and drone attacks on US military facilities, while the US has continued its military operations targeting Iranian interests.
