Zelenskyy Urges US to Increase Pressure on Russia Amid Ongoing Conflict

Pryluky:Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced that his country's negotiation team will soon visit the United States for discussions, aiming to strengthen efforts against Russia.

According to Anadolu Agency, Zelenskyy made the announcement while speaking to journalists alongside UK Foreign Secretary Ed Miliband in Pryluky, a city in Ukraine's Chernihiv region. He called on the US to intensify pressure on Russia through sanctions and financial assistance to Ukraine. "Our team is in Europe today and will be in the United States tomorrow or the day after. I hope the appropriate signals will be conveyed," Zelenskyy stated.

The visit to Pryluky took place shortly after a devastating Russian missile strike on the city, which local authorities reported resulted in 22 deaths and over 50 injuries. Miliband expressed solidarity with Ukraine, stating on social media, "We will stand with the people of Ukraine for as long as it takes." He also met with Ukrainian children and families affected by the war.

Zelenskyy criticized comments made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who described the conflict as being in a "strategic stalemate." Zelenskyy argued against negotiating with Russia while Ukraine remains in a challenging situation, urging for a shutdown of Russia's economy and the imposition of sanctions on Russian weapons. He also called for the opening of Starlink for Ukraine.
