Yemeni Forces Report Success in ‘Dawn of Yemen’ Operation

Sanaa:Yemeni government forces announced they have 'neutralized' 1,370 Houthi fighters in 1,729 strikes as part of the 'Dawn of Yemen' military operation. These strikes targeted Houthi observation posts, command-and-control centers, weapons depots, supply points, and other military positions.

According to Anadolu Agency, The forces utilized advanced modern weapons in the operation, resulting in the destruction or damage of 300 military vehicles and equipment. However, these figures have not been independently verified.

Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council Chairman Rashad al-Alimi initiated the 'Dawn of Yemen' operation with the objective of restoring state institutions, reclaiming the capital, Sanaa, and ending Houthi control. Government forces have reported progress in southwestern Yemen, particularly around the strategic Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

The Saudi-led coalition, which backs Yemen's internationally recognized government, contributed 100 fighter jets to the operation against Houthi positions. The offensive follows renewed hostilities in Yemen, marked by Houthi advancements in September, including the capture of the port city of Mokha and Mayyun Island.

The conflict in Yemen began when the Houthis seized Sanaa in September 2014, leading to the Saudi-led coalition's intervention in March 2015 to support the recognized government.
