Beijing:Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and EU Commissioner for Trade and Economic Security Maros Sefcovic engaged in discussions on Thursday.
According to Anadolu Agency, Sefcovic expressed on the US social media platform X that both parties are striving to rebalance EU-China trade after three months of intensive discussions.
The primary goal of these talks is to achieve tangible results during the first phase of the Trade and Investment Consultations. The EU is particularly focused on addressing its significant trade deficit with China, which surpasses £1 billion ($1.12 billion) daily, while also tackling issues related to market access and trade restrictions.
These discussions are set to continue through Friday.
