Beijing:French President Emmanuel Macron's diplomatic adviser, Emmanuel Bonne, will undertake a five-day visit to China for strategic discussions. This visit coincides with ongoing talks between Chinese and European Union officials regarding trade tensions.
According to Anadolu Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi will lead the dialogue with Bonne. The French diplomatic adviser is expected to arrive in China on Friday. Mao Ning, the Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, stated that China aims to strengthen coordination with France on both bilateral and multilateral issues, fostering steady development in China-France and China-EU relations.
The announcement of Bonne's visit aligns with discussions between Chinese Commerce Minister Wang Wentao and Maros Sefcovic, the EU's commissioner for trade and economic security, occurring in Beijing on Thursday and Friday. Sefcovic's trip focuses on addressing the EU's trade deficit with China, which surpasses £1 billion ($1.12 billion) daily, as well as issues of market access and trade restrictions.
France and Germany have previously urged the European Commission to devise new trade instruments, noting that current measures are inadequate for the growing economic challenges. China, however, emphasized the highly integrated and mutually dependent nature of its trade relationship with the EU, advocating for the resolution of differences through dialogue.
In related diplomatic news, Beijing announced that Togo's President of the Council of Ministers, Faure Essozimna Gnassingbe, will make an official visit to China from October 9 to 16 at the invitation of Premier Li Qiang.
