Riyadh:Yemen's Houthi group announced on Sunday that it conducted three operations involving dozens of ballistic missiles targeting Saudi Arabia. The attacks reportedly hit King Khalid International Airport in Riyadh and two military bases.
According to Anadolu Agency – English, the Houthi military spokesperson, Yahya Saree, stated that the first operation targeted King Khalid International Airport in the Saudi capital and claimed it "achieved its objective." The second operation reportedly targeted facilities at King Khalid Air Base in Khamis Mushait, which included aircraft parking areas, ammunition depots, and drone control centers.
The third operation allegedly struck a Border Guard naval base in Jizan, in southwestern Saudi Arabia, resulting in unspecified deaths and injuries. Saree warned airlines, airport staff, and passengers against using King Khalid International Airport, describing it as "unsafe," and indicated that the group plans to continue attacks within Saudi territory.
No immediate response from Saudi authorities regarding the Houthi claims has been reported. The announcement of these attacks coincided with the partial reopening of flights at King Khalid International Airport after a two-week suspension due to a previous Houthi attack. Saudi state broadcaster AlEkhbariya reported that domestic flights have resumed at Terminal 1, and Terminal 2 is now handling international services by national carriers. However, a complete resumption of operations at the airport has not been announced by Saudi authorities.
