Hanoi: China and Vietnam are set to hold their first-ever joint meeting of foreign, defense, and security ministers next week, as announced in an official statement on Friday. The meeting marks a significant development in the diplomatic relations between the two nations.
According to Anadolu Agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi, along with Public Security Minister Wang Xiaohong and Defense Minister Dong Jun, will be visiting Vietnam from March 15 to 17. Their visit is to participate in the inaugural ministerial meeting of the China-Vietnam '3+3' strategic dialogue, which will focus on diplomacy, defense, and public security.
During the visit, Wang Yi will also co-chair the 17th meeting of the China-Vietnam Steering Committee for Bilateral Cooperation, as indicated by the Chinese Foreign Ministry. The initiative underscores the robust ties between China and Vietnam, both of which are governed by a Communist Party and share a 'comprehensive strategic partnership.'
Bilateral trade has been a significant component of their relationship, with trade volumes reaching $260.65 billion in 2024. This strategic dialogue is expected to further enhance cooperation in various sectors between the two neighboring countries.
