Kuala Lumpur: Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Kosovo's President Vjosa Osmani engaged in discussions on Palestine and bilateral relations during a meeting on Friday. Both leaders addressed various international issues, emphasizing independence, human rights, and respect for human dignity, with a focus ranging from Palestine to global peace efforts. Anwar highlighted these topics at a joint news conference.

According to Anadolu Agency, President Osmani is on her inaugural four-day visit to Malaysia. During her visit, Kosovo inaugurated its embassy in Kuala Lumpur, marking a significant step in enhancing relations between Pristina and Malaysia. Osmani described the embassy as "a new gateway" for strengthening diplomatic ties, promoting citizen interests, and honoring Kosovo's struggle for freedom and statehood. She expressed these sentiments on social media platform X.

The discussions between Osmani and Anwar covered various aspects of their bilateral relationship, including trade, investment, education, and halal products. Anwar expressed Malaysia's desire to leverage Kosovo's strengths and its strong relations with the European Union. Osmani affirmed Kosovo's readiness to collaborate with Malaysia on shared challenges such as cybersecurity, counter-terrorism, and disaster response.

In a move to foster greater connectivity, Malaysia recently lifted visa requirements for Kosovo nationals for stays up to 30 days. The diplomatic relationship between Malaysia and Kosovo was established in 2011, following Malaysia's recognition of Kosovo's independence in 2008.
