Lithuania: Lithuania's Prime Minister Gintautas Paluckas announced his resignation as prime minister and party chairman on Thursday, according to the public broadcaster LRT's sources. Paluckas's decision to step down marks a significant shift in the country's political landscape, as he also relinquished his role as the chairman of the Lithuanian Social Democratic Party (LSDP).

According to Anadolu Agency, the board of LSDP is expected to vote on Paluckas's resignation throughout the day. The announcement comes on the heels of mounting political pressure, particularly following the Democrats "For Lithuania" party's declaration that they would exit the ruling coalition if Paluckas continued in his role as prime minister.

Tensions escalated after President Gitanas Nauseda called on Paluckas last week to address allegations concerning past business activities and alleged ethical breaches. Nauseda provided him with a two-week window to publicly clarify these issues or consider resignation, further urging him to seek a vote of confidence to gauge his support within the parliament.
