Ankara: Trkiye's exports to Asia-Pacific countries saw a significant increase of 18.6% year on year, totaling $5.7 billion during the first eight months of this year, while the nation's overall exports rose by 4% to reach $185 billion in the same period.

According to Anadolu Agency, China emerged as the largest recipient of Turkish exports within the Asia-Pacific region, with exports amounting to $2.5 billion, reflecting a substantial 35.1% year-on-year increase. South Korea followed, importing goods worth $480.2 million, marking a 15.8% surge. Japan imported $423.8 million, an 11.8% increase, while exports to Indonesia and Pakistan stood at $365.5 million and $361.6 million, respectively, showing growth rates of 15.2% and 2.2%.

Singapore witnessed the highest growth in Turkish exports, experiencing a 154.2% surge compared to the same period last year, with the total reaching $324.5 million. Brunei saw a 147.6% rise, with exports totaling nearly $3.1 million. Laos and Cambodia also recorded significant increases, with exports rising by 82.7% to $5.8 million and by 49.1% to $22.2 million, respectively.

The collective Turkish exports to major markets in the Asia-Pacific, including China, South Korea, Japan, and Indonesia, amounted to $3.8 billion from January to August. Despite the overall growth, Turkish exports to 14 Asia-Pacific countries increased, while they declined in six others.

Mining products spearheaded the export growth during this period, with a 39.1% increase, amounting to $1.72 billion. Chemical products followed with exports worth $983.9 million, and textiles and raw materials accounted for $408.3 million.

Istanbul led the provinces in terms of Turkish exports to Asia-Pacific countries, contributing $4.1 billion to the total. Ankara followed with $1.3 billion, Izmir with $366.1 million, Elazig with $202.8 million, and Kocaeli with $192 million, as per the data.
