Ankara:Iran has announced that its response to US proposals regarding efforts to end the conflict will be conveyed through mediators. This development coincides with announcements of progress made with Oman on establishing secure shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz.
According to Anadolu Agency, Esmaeil Baghaei, the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman, stated that Tehran has clearly set out its 'considerations and conditions' for ending the war and restoring security to the Gulf region, including the Strait of Hormuz. Baghaei emphasized that messages between Iran and the US are being exchanged through intermediaries.
In response to comments by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who criticized Iran for not seizing 'multiple opportunities' to reach a nuclear agreement with Washington, Baghaei accused the US of distorting historical facts. He noted the US withdrawal from the 2015 nuclear agreement in 2018, disruptions of diplomatic processes, and military actions against Iran during negotiations as evidence of US breaches.
Baghaei also blamed the US for the current regional insecurity and its global economic repercussions. Meanwhile, he highlighted that Iran and Oman have advanced in their consultations to enhance maritime security, agreeing on the geographical coordinates for safe shipping routes through the Strait of Hormuz. The two nations have also agreed on how to communicate these arrangements to the relevant international body, which is expected to occur soon. Iran remains committed to fostering trust and collaboration among regional countries.
