Israeli Artillery Targets Southern Syria Amid Military Incursions

Ankara:The Israeli army fired an artillery shell towards the outskirts of a village in Syria's southern Quneitra province on Thursday. The state-run Alikhbariah TV reported that the target was the vicinity of Sweisa village in the southern Quneitra countryside.

According to Anadolu Agency, No casualties or damage were immediately reported from the shelling. This attack is part of ongoing Israeli military incursions and assaults in the region.

Earlier on Thursday, Israeli forces advanced into the village of Al-Samdaniya Al-Sharqiya in Quneitra province, deploying two tanks and over 15 military vehicles carrying soldiers. The forces then moved toward the outskirts of Tal Krum, as reported by the broadcaster.

On Wednesday night, Israeli artillery also targeted agricultural areas around Al-Samdaniya Al-Sharqiya village, with no casualties reported.

Southern Syria, particularly the Quneitra and Daraa provinces, has been subjected to repeated Israeli incursions and attacks, which include raids, searches, arrests, and the establishment of military checkpoints. Israel has occupied most of Syria's Golan Heights since 1967.

Following the fall of the Bashar Assad regime on December 8, 2024, Israel declared the 1974 Disengagement Agreement collapsed and took control of the demilitarized buffer zone and other strategic positions, including the Syrian side of Mount Hermon. Damascus has persistently demanded the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Syrian territory and has reiterated its commitment to the 1974 agreement.
