DR Congo and M23 Rebels Sign Peace Agreement in Qatar

Doha: The Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and the M23 rebel group reached a significant agreement to end the ongoing fighting in eastern Congo. The agreement was signed in Doha, Qatar, by representatives from both parties after weeks of diplomatic efforts.

According to Anadolu Agency, the declaration of principles was finalized following earlier discussions held in Washington. The conflict, intensified by M23's January takeover of Goma and Bukavu, has resulted in numerous casualties and the displacement of hundreds of thousands. This agreement follows a previous peace deal between Congo and Rwanda, signed in Washington last month.
